Marc and Alex Marquez have been fined €2,000 for a pit lane infraction during Qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix. On top of this, Alex Marquez's first flying lap time was also deleted.
The Spanish riders were found to have exited the pit lane while it the track was under red flag conditions.
While speaking to the media following the session, championship leader Marc Marquez explained that he stopped as soon as he had realised his mistake.
“If I get a penalty for that, forget the championship. Of course, I went out, but I stopped the bike because I thought that already would be green. I braked super hard and stopped," he said.
“But OK, then we performed well on the racetrack, which is the most important, and we are again on the front row.
"Fabio did an amazing lap time - ’35.6, super fast - and we are there, super close. It will be a tight race between Fabio, Pecco and Alex.”
